Claire Bauer
Connections & Communications Director
Claire Bauer serves as the Communications & Connections Director at Vertical Church, where she loves helping people feel seen, welcomed, and connected. Claire first walked through Vertical’s doors in 2011 after graduating from The Ohio State University, and since 2019 she’s been part of the staff team.
Claire’s journey to ministry was shaped during her college years at Ohio State, where she graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. What began as a plan to go into the medical field transformed when a friend shared the Gospel with her—leading Claire to become a follower of Christ. That encounter changed the course of her life, sending her into mission work with Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ). For ten years, Claire had the privilege of helping students encounter Jesus and grow in their faith on campus and around the world—in places like Venezuela, France, Slovenia, and Brazil.
Claire and her husband John first met as students in France in 2009, and years later reconnected while attending Vertical. Together, they are raising three joyful, wild, and tenderhearted sons who keep life fun. As a family, they love being immersed in church life, enjoying all kinds of sports, and exploring new restaurants around Columbus.
