Matt Rickly
Worship & Business Pastor
Matt Rickly serves as the Worship & Business Pastor at Vertical Church. Matt has the privilege of leading God's people in congregational, musical worship and managing the financial operations of the church.
Hailing from Columbus, Matt was raised in a Christian household and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at age four but didn’t fully embrace his faith until college. Matt graduated from Worthington Christian High School before attending The Ohio State University where he studied electrical engineering. During Matt's time at OSU, he was heavily involved with CRU as a campus Bible study leader and worship leader of the RealLife band. Through this experience, Matt felt the Lord's calling into full-time vocational ministry instead of pursuing a career in engineering.
After graduation in 2015, Matt moved to New York City and served as Associate Worship Pastor at The Journey Church. After a year in this role, the Lord then opened up an opportunity for Matt to be the Worship Pastor at Church on the Hill in San Jose, California. While at Church on the Hill, Matt earned an MBA through Louisiana State University and a Master's of Theological Studies through Liberty University's Rawlings School of Divinity. In 2021, Matt transitioned into the dual role of Worship & Business Pastor. In 2023, Matt accepted the position of Worship & Business Pastor at Vertical Church.
Matt is married to his kindergarten sweetheart, Claire, and they have two kids, Cadence and Judah. The Ricklys enjoy whatever gets them outside and love spending time hiking, running, and visiting nearly every playground in central Ohio.
